Three-Three-Three
A Poem of Peacefulness by my Daughter
As someone with level 2 autism, my daughter Leigh sometimes struggles with spoken communication. But she finds — and shares — peace when she writes.
Thank you, Leigh, for letting me share the peace you find.
Three-Three-Three
By Leigh Matheson
The hearty spiced green of tomato plants,
The vibrant wild sweetness of Chinese Privet, Honeysuckle,
That indescribably lovely after-rain smell,
The sharp tang of warm asiago sourdough;
Selah in scent.
The rambling content melody of wind chimes,
The patter of cold, long-awaited rain,
The sleepy sigh of an old hound dog on a red couch;
Selah in sound.
The growl of a stomach anticipating good food,
The soft carpet beneath my feet,
The peace that passes all understanding;
Selah in sense.

This is the kind of poem I can grasp—really lovely!
This is so good, Leigh! I found myself taking a deep breath. ☺️
